Lots of traffic, little revenue...

The same old story that I'm sure many hear about around here :)

I have a site with the following running stats for the past 30 days:

    - 35k visits / 11k unique
    - 260k impressions

Relevancy is alright, I'd say 50% of the time good, 30% average, and 10-20% not relevant.

The site is http://www.game-artist.net , generates about $3 average per day

Point of my thread, looking for a little advice as I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or the revenue is about right for the amount of traffic...

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can offer :)

    Cheers

I knew your site before from hourences interview. I think you have a great site but I heard here and elsewhere, tech-folks, gaming folks tend not to click on ads at all. I don't know what else to suggest, such is the internet. One guy makes a 3000 free-article site on law or cats or gardening and makes $$$, where else mostly game design & 3d art sites don't make much. Check out gameproducer.net, not just the site but that's the forum nick of the guy here also, he gave some useful tips about his web-site, mostly about running text-links...

Good luck, and keep up the good work with your site.

oh my god . it's terrible.

    * remove the "Opportunities" label above the google ads which are on your home page. it's against the tos.

    * and you can insert adsense code inside the first posts

    Thanks for the tips fellas.

Penbit, it's def not easy, but coming along I guess :) Content and community has always been the priority, just recently really had a good look at revenue, hopefully it will pay for some bigger things on the site sooner than later.

    Thanks again...

Maybe the term 'modeling' is leading to irrelevant google ads being served. On the front page i got served ads on 'being a fashion model', also one about 'Makeup Artists'. Maybe not the most interesting topics for game developers ;)

Maybe change modeling to a different game related term could lead to some more relevant ads being served.

that's one of the points Tearbyte makes in his ebook.
I think is one of the things many people disregard, but has a lot of potential

make sure that your key words are next to each other. for instance, my site is about photo restoration, so I make sure those two words are together a lot. If I only have "restoration" on one part of the page, Google might think it is about ANY kind of restoration, so the ads wont be relevent.
