PR updated in January 2011. And as far as I know it updated only once in the entire year of 2010, so maybe the next update will be in 2012. Just forget about PageRank for now, if your site's ranking then all is well, if it's not then continue building links etc. PR has nothing to do with sandboxing and such.

It's hard to know what to believe regarding page rank. Many say that page rank means nothing, but there sure is a huge market built around it and tons of money spent chasing page rank!

All website owners want a high page rank, but find it almost impossible to achieve this. Below are a few simple steps on how to gain valuable backlinks to your website to get a high page rank.

You have more than one options, you paid and free backlinks. Paid backlinks obviously most, usually a one time fee . The benefits of paid backlinks outweigh the benefits of free backlinks, this is due to the fact you do not need to do any research to find the backlinks and dofollow links.

    Step 1

You can find other websites through Google which will allow you to add links that are dofollow. Although this is not easy and takes a large amount of time. This can be done through searching within the page source and viewing links to check if they are dofollow or not follow, this is a very slow and tedious way of gaining a high page rank for your website.

It matters as to what is the quality of those links, if you have lot of links on your link page and all of them are of low PR it will not benefit you in any ways.

Informative thread... I've been trying to figure out and understand the "theory" behind PR vs SERP and oddly enough found this thread to help. We're trying to build a long term sustainable business with a strong web presence, we're not selling ads or anything like that, just providing education and information - so what I'm sort of getting from this is who cares about PR and stop stressing over SERP and just write good content with a long term steady plan for commenting and writing on other sites.
