Lots of Likes from India....for baseball????

We have a fan page for our baseball ecommerce site. It had several hundred fans a month ago, suddenly it started gaining Likes at a rate of 2000 per week. The strange thing is that it's all Indians (from India, not the kind from Cleveland).

I don't see any reason why they would like a baseball ecommerce site. Is there some benefit they gain by liking us?

The only thing which jumps to my mind is that the Indian fans got the wrong address. In other words maybe the owner of another fan page (with a similar name maybe) bought a package of "likes" and instead of "liking" their page these Indian fans by mistake "liked" your page.
Just one question: Why shouldn't Indians be interested in a baseball ecommerce site?

Are people buying and selling Likes packages with the quantity of over 10,000? And what is the purpose or value of thousands of Likes that aren't true Likes? I can see the value of real fans but what good are these fans?

Regarding Indian interest in baseball, I checked our September stats and we had 235 Indian visits out of 149,026 total visits. It's just not a big sport there.
