I just put up my first proxy site a few days ago at www.thecultofthedancingmuffin.com I've worked deskside support for several years but never did very much with websites until now and never before used Adsense and Adbrite. The site is built on a glype template that I modified. Late Sat night I bought a tier 2 position at proxy.org and sure enough my traffic shot up pretty fast, adsense recorded over 3000 impressions on Sunday and I'm up to about 1500 mid-day today but I've only made $1.50 so far today. Sunday ended with under a dollar made. People just aren't clicking on my ads. Been doing research to try and fix that, eliminated ads that were for other proxies , started to modify keywords in Adbrite, re-arranged my ads...but before I spin my wheels too much I thought I'd ask for some opinions. What can I do to make my ads more attractive? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Then Adsense is useless. try value click media or paypopup. You can read about them here: http://thebestpayperclick.blogspot.com/
adsense doesn't target the right audience in a proxy website. When I visit a proxy I intend to use it for my purposes (be anonymous, circumvent a firewall or a protection) and to browse to other sites that interest me. I want to emphasize on other sites! I'm not looking for in formations about proxies or other proxies. If keywords should be used for targeting then it should be the keywords of the site I'm visiting with your proxy not the proxy it's self. If the ads are not interesting for me why would I click them?
Finally got my adsense channels set up in a usable way and when I looked at the fresh results this morning I found something surprising. The ad getting the most attention by far is the dinky little ad-link bar Why I thought is the smallest ad on the site getting the attention....and then it dawned on me..the ad-link is directly below my strange-looking page header. People are pausing to look at it and when they do they see the ad-link. I read about the importance of page content but I never really grasped it until now. Soon as I get home tonight that ad-link becomes a banner and I'll devise other eye-catching material to make people linger around my ads a little longer. I'll make a go of this yet.
