Alright Guys,my website has stayed strong for some of its keywords despite the updates which im very pleased about, however for one keyword in particular (the one we are focusing most on) there has been a load of movement recently in the rankings on google. top 3 have stayed the same, but the ones below it are changing daily, some sites that were on page 5 have just shot up to page 1 (and some of them are rubbish sites) is this just some sort of google dance or have they cracked it? My site is all over the place aswell, went down from top of page 2 to page 4 , then back to 2, now its on 3. i have no idea whats going on!any advice/help will be welcome! Thanks!
May be you are creating new link back for that keyword (as you are focused on this keyword) and when Google bot cached that keyword contained page, you are facing Google dance. During caching a page you may face this situation.
DSReeves, It's called the Google Dance. Do not put too much thought into it. The first time this happened to me I was flipping out and then it leveled out in about a month or two. What you need to focus on is becoming a brand in your niche! Build strong viral content to establish a name, the links and traffic will follow I promise! ~Nick B.
I have literally hit the refresh button and seen sites jump about on every refresh. You say you are focusing on one keyword in particular - have a look at what you have been doing here and this will probably lead you to your answer.
To stable ranking for your target keyword you need to add some quality content and get some thematic back links.
