Lots Of .edu and other comment spam in the SERPs today...

Been looking at a few of my SERPs today, and started spotting a lot of comment and RSS feed results in the top results. Unsurprisingly, the top ranking sites have a lot of authority, but absolutely nothing to do with the topic. They're completely irrelevant to the subject of the content sites they are pushing down the SERPs.

Anyone else been seeing a lot of this stuff turning up recently?

Here's a couple of examples of the cruddy top of the rankings I'm seeing:

These guys seems to be getting a lot of hits - http://forum.stanford.edu/blog/?p=12 - all the more ironic given it's a computer forum. You'd think they realise the amount of crap they're getting spammed.

The Standform posts all have rel=nofollow on them.

    Interesting.

Yeah - it's not so much that its boosting the SERPs of what it's linked too - it's the fact that it's creating content interesting enough to Google to rank it above relevant content. :)

I saw a lot of spam in my contact forms today for spammy links on .edu pages. I assume the .edu sites were hacked.

Either spammers have gotten better or Google has reverted back to something old..... one step forward and two steps back for Google :(
