From my observation, at least 60% of newsstand, Dunkin Donut and 7-eleven in New York are own by Indian or middle eastern
I'd like to say that's just stereotype, but I had/have a number of friends that own those chains. It's relatively easy to work those businesses...it's francise. But there are many indians in different things as well. A lot of them are in real estate. Good for them either way, I truely want India to be one of the world powers, anyways.
No, I live in the bay area...california. I have multiple indian friends, whom run restaurants, 7-11's, and a quizo (spelling?). I know others that own subways. It's fairly popular to own franchise, I suppose. *shrug*
My hint was to the link I had posted. 5.8 million hits a day to the government site in India - info related to starting business, etc.. Since the conversation has taken new path - trend is - People from North and Western India are more entrepreneurial and you will see them own Subways, Quiznos, 7-11s, Newstands in NYC, Dunkin Donuts, etc.... Those who are from South and entrepreneurial - they mostly end up in service sector although this number is very small.
