I built myself up to a first page ranking for my targeted keyword, but then I went down from PR 4 to 0 with the last update. All of my SERPs rankings temporarily disappeared, but then they came back, and I was back on the front page in the same position as before. That lasted for a few weeks, but today I see that they are all gone again. I exchanged links with a lot of off topic sites, so would that be the reason? If so, could I allieve the situation by getting people to take off the off topic links?
yes, reciprocal off topic links are NOT GOOD. i would remove them all from your site. and then if they remove yours, great. If not it doesnt matter. You cant help who links to you but you can help who you link to! Tho Google is so arrogrant they still ban innocent webmasters who have been setup
It is normal for Google to change SERPs ranking of a site and the best things you do is to continue with the link building. Reciprocal links or exchanging links is not the reason for it but too much links that is not related to your site might harm your site.
Maintaining your site over and over.... just always apply link building... and what they said reciprocal links that not related to your website can harm.
based on my experienced link building with off topic sites is good only for a few months but in the long run it shows the side effect. link building with off topic sites is only good for porn sites because that is considered a black hat!
I wonder if your off topic recipricals look like paid links. It certainly seems that if G thinks thier paid links it could attract this sort of penalty
I didn't actually have any offtopic links going from my site... Not any that Google would know about, anyway, if they paid attention to the nofollow. A lot of the sites that I exchanged with did give me links that looked bad, though. Many of them put me in the footer along with a lot of other random sites, just a big list of keywords. Regardless of whether the PR penalty had anything to do with the SERPs penalty, I am concerned about both, but mostly about SERPs.
When the website loses PR for PR penalization. PR is determined by the number of backlinks, so if loosing PR means you are loosing backlinks which then results in losing SERPs (what comes around goes around?). In any case, the loss of OPs SERPs might be from link exchange with non related sites (or from any changes you have made to your site).
I expect questions like that. There is no connection between PR and SERPs. And I hope that it is understood by most of the webmasters who target PR increase
Page iMportance.. are many other says.. how many related links to your site.. me too i have lost my SERP and its too bad.. i got almost 4000 of uniques everyday now my SERP is now gone.. no traffic at all meaning no income..
Wait until PR and backlink update become stable. Or might experiencing this because you're accessing different datacenter.
Nice Idea, every SEO knows that. Damn if your increase PR it may also increase the rank of your SERP.heheheheheeheheh.
