Same in Poland, everything is weird today, websites ranked between 20-30 postions are placet directly at 4th position, at almost every single keyword that exist there are some websites missing.
google.de the same. ranked #1 for a term as my site was the only one which has real content about this topic. now its at #7 and visitors decreased! must be an error otherwise this update would be a downgrade for all searchers!
UGH I am also experiencing this problem. I understand that it might just be a Google update, but man does it make me freak out when this type of thing happens. I hate being such a paranoid fool!
update is going on!!!!!!! check your site carefully it gona be big update. any kind of spam can harmful to your site.
It's funny, one of my main sites has dropped from page one to page two, but I had more traffic on the 31st than all but one other day this month. From what I can tell the pendulum has tilted with backlinks being de-emphasized somewhat. (Or scrutinized in a different way.) I should clarify - it looks as though reciprocal link exchanges and some other linking techniques are getting devalued or even penalized. I've spent some time reading in Google groups and one of the consistent themes among those that have dropped significantly seems to be 1) pages with links to other sites and the implication that they've traded links with other sites and 2) they've bought paid links. One claimed to have bought 30,000 worth of links and has dropped out of sight. It will be interesting to see where this settles out. It's funny, I had sites that were well traffic'ed and thriving before the Big Daddy update hit. In fact I was earning pretty well from the sites too. Then, over the course of a week - poof. They practically dropped 50 positions for each keyword. The explanations I saw at the time was "you need to get quality backlinks". That was exactly what Matt Cutts was advising to most people on his blog that submitted a site that had plummeted. I compared my backlinks to the others and frankly I didn't have many backlinks and so now all my articles were worthless without getting backlinks. I've made progress this year in getting backlinks and building up the traffic. The sites have never really recovered from that last update and now we're undergoing a major shuffling again it seems.... Wait, breath, analyze and just work on your sites I guess.... when all the shuffling settles out we'll see where we're at. I'm still seeing massive shifts up for some keywords, down for others. It's really an odd flux...
I have no idea what may actually be happening. But here is what I hope happens in the world of search — I am hopeful that search engines will become increasingly capable of accurately analyzing the actual content of web pages, and subsequently prioritizing content as the #1 factor in search. Just imagine the relief webmasters would feel if they could assign a lower priority to linkbuilding and could then concentrate on publishing unique, quality content. No more "gaming" the system. The quality and desirability of content coming more and more to the forefront would, in my opinion, be a great leap forward for the internet. P.S. — I am well aware of the slogan, "Content is king." Wouldn't it be nice to see that become a dominant reality in the search world?
I am noticing very strange things as well. Updates usually occur over the weekend, so lets be patient for a few days.
Well I have just done a check for three important search terms for one of my sites and whereas yesterday my site had completely disappeared - today its back on the 1st page of results for all three search terms ( where it has been for the past 12 months or so !! ) Another site of mine that was in the 1st position in Google for a very popular search term of more than 14 million results, was dropped down to the 6th page yesterday. Just done a check of that keyword again today, and now my site is back in top position. Gonna run some more checks now for other sites that were nowhere yesterday, and check if they are back where they were. Alex
Scubita - I'm pretty sure that your sites will go back where they were. I was doing some pretty intense checking yesterday, and when I did various searches for important keywords, I was noticing sites being listed on the first page of the results that had nothing to do with what I was searching for. It definately looked like there was a temporary glitch somewhere that was throwing out some very unusual and incorrect results. Keep checking your sites for their keywords, and I am sure that over the next few days, they should be back to where they were before this current update started. Alex
Hi there, My sites are back to their original position in Google. I think updation has been completed. Thanks bushib
