Lost PR.

Hello - Last PR update, my website's PR went from 2 to 0. The only reason I could think of is I changed the address from www to non www.
Now that I set up a 301 redirect I'm hoping I can get at least my previous PR (if I get lucky) My question is: what's the chance to gain back that PR after setting up a 301 redirect. do the non www can still get some link juice?
Any tips, advices and even other possible causes of the drop?

    Thank you in advance.

I wouldn't count on just setting that up to fix your PR. I would say keep trying to build your backlinks, post on blogs leaving comments and continue to post here and on other forums with your site in your signature as a link. This is the best way, and don't worry about your PR drop - Google works in mysterious ways, it can happen

Same. It just sounds like you lost some pr because your inbound links disappeared or they lost pr also.

First step is right. Use 301 redirect to solve the issue. I think the link structure of your website is poor. Also quality backlinks from the relevant websites. All the pages must linked to the home page. Use sitemap html and sitemap xml and add all the urls in both. This is the right way to connect all the pages of your website.

I brought this thread to life cos I have a question: Is it normal to have a PR0 even the website is linked in high PR websites like dmoz.org etc?
I'm just curious if it's natural or there's a potential issue.

    Thanks

Does not seem normal to me. How many outbound links you have? Maybe you are getting penalized in pr because you have some trash links pointing to you or something, I'll let others weigh in.

I have a security and home theater installation company and also used to have a PR2 which is now PR0. I noticed a drop down to PR1 first and then 0. My links are still good and I don't understand why this happened. my sites are: www.streamlinealarms.com and www.streamlinehdstore.com. I also started a new site www.streamline-systems.net. We'll see how this one does with a fresh start.

Just keep on working hard. I've seen several my clients' pages went to 0 a while a go and then up. Just do not remove already existing links and continue to build new quality backlinks.

Maybe limiting the outgoing links in the posts should help?

build quality backlinks - it will come back one day - and remember that page rank system counts from 0 to 10 so nothing to worry - if you see a gray color on toolbar instead pr value then i should worry - it means site is penalized and lost pr values - if you have PR0 and site is indexed you are still fine

I know it will I was just wondering if having PR4+ backlinks and having a PR0 sounds alarming to me.

go to google analytics and complete a site reinclusion request - however if site is indexed no need to do it - focus on backlinks

I had a PR1 site and due to low promotion went PR0 - but it is still in index so I don't worry about it

I lost the PR of a website with a PR3 and I have never gained it back despite efforts to regain it. That was in 2007. I hope you will gain it back in due time.

Yes dont worry about losing your PR . Before one year i just made new website and i did not do much link building but after one month i saw my PR went to #. I was surprised that how it could be happened. So there must be some problem with your toolbar. Plus as you told that you have changed your address so may be it would be the cause of losing PR. Keep getting backlinks you will again get your PR back.

You might have lost some back links. Either that or Google needs to re-index all your back-links with your site's location change. I'd say be patient, their crawlers will get to it.
