Did you buy them on the premise that they were PR3? If you did then ask for your money back

If not I bet the user has removed some of the backlinks that gave it that PR - possibly if they have a higher PR site that they still own then they just took the links off for the sites they sold to you?

The real PR only Google knows. The toolbar PR is unreliable old data. PR is not that important, I rank a PR 0 page above PR 6 page all the time using authority sites.

PR is based on the BL and some other factor and also thius will remian for life time. In each Google update this will be changed according to the quality of BL and content etc... So after buying he may did not do anything on it.

google resets pr when domains change hands. sucks, but that's all that happened. has been known to happen for awhile.

google is a registrar, so that's how they know.

Lots of PR domains sold out there are redirected domains. That kind of PR is not valid. You can get a PR 10 by redirecting a domain to a PR 10 page but it means nothing. Probably, the domains you bought were redirected and after the last update they've been down to their original PR.

You should check if it's redirected or not before buying the domain by googling info:www.example.com. If it yields another site, it's fake.

First, are you sure that the PR was real and not a redirect?

Second, if it was indeed real you might get it back. Usually google will drop the PR a few days after the expired domains were moved into another hands (whois), but if the backlinks are still there, they will count again and in the next update the PR might be of same value when you bought it, or slightly higher/lower.

    http://pr-script.com/demo/cgi-bin/pr_checker.pl?url=somewifi.com
    Code (markup):
    Too Less Backlinks

    http://pr-script.com/demo/cgi-bin/pr_checker.pl?url=rustyheart.biz
    Code (markup):
    Small Amount of Backlinks.

You should have checked the backlinks before buying out a domain.

As you buy the false pr3 domain, these domains PR are cheat from other sites, they 301 to ohter pr3 sites before google PR update. After google PR update their PR be 3, then someone sell them in cheap price. unfortunately the buyer is your.

I believe the person who sold you these domains has removed the links directed. I think you have to make work again for these things.
