Lost Of Pr From Directory Submission

Has anyone lost Pr due to directory submission. I think I was submitting to too many directories in a short amount of time. My supervisor had me submit to 3000 directories everyday and now I see the website went from a PR 4 to an n/a. Anyone had the same problem?

3000 directories / day? I don't think you will even find that many working directories :D
Where did you find so many directories to approve your site in such a short period of time.

The actual number of directories worth your time and effort to submit to is amazingly small. Sounds like you were submitting to the trashy free directory circuit if you submitted to 3000. If you roll in trash don’t expect to come up smelling like a rose. It could be many reasons however that caused your problems and the least likely is your directory submissions.

Haha very good quote. Anyway I was using digixmas. Personally I hate using directory submission as a form of seo but my supervisor thought it was either a good idea or a good way to keep me occupied since I'm just an assistant :p

I doubt your directory submissions had anything to do with losing PR. More than likely you lost some links rather than gaining to many.

Also,if you submitted to 3,000 directories I imagine it took more than one day. Of those 3,000 how many actually accepted your submission 1/2 to 3/4? I'm pretty sure what ever the number, they didn't all approve your submission at the same time and Google didn't discover them all at once. The point I'm making is it would be very hard to submit to a large enough number fast enough to cause a blip on Google's radar.

This has been discussed as well. If your theory is correct, your competition could simply begin a champagne of pointing links to your site and lower your PR.

3000 submissions in 24 hours means 125 submissions per hour.
That means 2 submissions per minute, provided you don't sleep and work 24 hours a day.

    How is that possible?

Anyway, that aside, I do agree with LakeCountry that not all submissions are approved instantaneously. You are more likely (IMHO) to lose PR if you publicly announce on your blog that you are selling links....which is why I am still wondering why bidding directories still have PR.

I quickly looked and you still have PR within your site which would mean that
for some reason ONLY your home page suffered the effects..

Did you build backlinks with all same anchor texts when submitting?

    thx

Yeah, remember its not good to aquire a huge amount of links too fast. It trips Googles red flags. Not good.

Google likes natural links on the idea that a good site get links continuously from relevant websites in steady process. But it's a pity that due to huge SEO outsourcing and the work target, people don't care about that. After 2-3 years they find all their work and money gone to waste.

    Good question.

As said google likes natural links. And if you are going to submit to directories, submit to about 20-100 a day continuously, defiantly dont do loads, then none for a while.

This is possible if you use same Title, Keyword and Description at the time of all submission.
