I can assure you thats total baloney. It is your search engine strategy that counts not your adwords bill.

Theres always a reason. You may not see those results as relevant but maybe the rest of the internet does ;) - I admit some results aren't like this and shouldn't be there. In a search engine the size of Google this happens however alot of times site fluctuations are brought on by faulty linkbuilding techniques. If you want a good site to learn seo at PM me. It is NOT owned by me but that is where I learned seo. I would post it but not sure if the mods would like that.

I think if you've done a lot of losing / gaining links in a short period Google has a tendancy to temporarily remove you for a few days from the search results. This of course is my theory.

Maybe it's being cautious and accessing your sites significant recent link changes before just giving you better or worse rankings right away.

    Google is making me seasick.
I feel like I am on a rollercoster. I keep going up and down from top ten to the middle of nowhere on daily basis. One day I see hundreds of referers from G, the day after, none.
Two month ago all of my pages but index, were gone supplemental. After a couple of weeks i had 50% of my pages back in the index.
Today only 20 pages are not supplemental.
Beside adding new content and some link exchange (very few and all checked) with related websites, I did nothing special.
So far I see google like a bandwith waste on my site.
Wonder when G will make up his mind.
It's frustrating, because I really don't know what to anymore.

    Ouch...

I really hope this is the algo figuring things out and it will fix things on its own...

Not that I deserved all that traffic. MSSA:eek:

I felt like a god for the last month... I do have a lot of really useful content, and all of it's original, but I knew damn well I shouldn't have been ahead of ***.gov for "***".

    oops.

Did you redesign your site by any chance? It usually happens when you change link structure or design of site.

I re-structured the site on january 1, adding a wordpress backend to my HTML homepage, and using WP as a CMS. It did great things for a while -- my adsense and traffic were up 100% from december, and February was holding strong. CJ referrals saw about a 1000% increase over the last two months.

Mid-month I stopped posting on my blog/CMS (I use Wordpress as a CMS for my "straight" content site, not as a blog) because real life got in the way. About a week ago ( a week after my last post) I saw a minor drop in SERPS for my highest referring keywords, but I was still getting a lot of traffic from obscure terms, so I did nothing about it.

Today, it just dropped like a rock. Only a couple referrals for my four major terms (which used to provide about 40% of G referrals, and stoped at a specific hour of the day today) and no referrals at all for those niche phrases that provided so many visitors over the last two months.

EDIT: McDar.net shows my site at 900 for each of the four terms for which I was top ten yesterday.

Googles algo is totally fine. People who are stupid enough(not you. I am definitely not referring to you) to believe that and then teach you that are not real seo. It appears to me as though your site needs more authority. Right now it is lacking in that area.
You gain authority by gaining quality links. Links pages don't really fit the bill

Mate you need a linkbait. Spend the $500-1000 or whatever it takes to create a linkbait which will draw links. In the end the price paid will seem like chicken feed. Stop link exchanging for a while. New sites can be effected by that I believe. Find a couple hundred quality directories and submit your site. These are one-way links and worth more that recip links. Also make sure all meta tags, page content is unique.

I am creating a massive list of about 1000-2000 directories. Most have only a few submissions so far. Coming soon....:D
