In the last two weeks or so, i've lost around $700 from dishonest people who have been opening disputes or a 'paypal investigation'. - (I know nothing can be done about the credit card charge backs.) I'm selling digital items - is there anything that can be done? Every dispute/investigation which gets opened i end up losing. Only time i win a dispute is when the buyer hasn't responded within 30days. I'm thinking about sending small letter via postal services which says 'thank you' or just a few coupons or something so i can at least provide tracking. - But morally speaking i shouldn't have to do that. Any one have some advice or suggestions? Thanks!
Advice from me would be take a pill - let it pass you by. I've been rooked twice before. Theres NOTHING PayPal can do. But...It's never a bad idea to call them and give their senior guys a piece of your mind - Do remember to produce actual proof that you sent your items (If its a domain, then an email from your registrar informing you of the pushing - out of the domain SHOULD suffice). ..but again, its upto the representative - most of the times, if you lose a dispute, you bid farewell to your cash. Feel sorry for you man
you know selling digital products online legally, you have to offer a 30 days satisfaction guarantee so if anyone asks for a refund, or a charge back, there is absolutely nothing you can do, except, make a counter offer, you can offer them a bundle of products in exchange for, not going for a charge back, and it does work, but not always just a matter of reducing the number of refunds
I'm not bothered about a refund or anything along those lines. But these people continue to use my work even after getting their money back. And theres not a darn thing i can do about it :/
i heard google checkout is even worse when it comes to CC chargeback..... but i over come this problem using my own tricks... and now i am on top of all the frauds....
this is what I don't understand, I also sell virtual products and the 2 times someone has tried to get a refund after I have sent them their link, they have lost their dispute and I get an email from paypal saying they lost because paypal doesn't get involved in "virtual" - I bet they are marking the product as something else and not virtual. How do you repsond in the resolution center, to you give a detailed description, including copies of emails, etc. I send dates times, copies of email, etc.
Would be great if you could share your tricks with the rest of us. I just do the following: Digital Goods - Emailed. Can provide proof if needed. Next day i get an email saying the dispute is closed and $$ has been refunded.
simplest thing join clcikbank and let them do you you sales , it has credit card and paypal option you will be free from paypal and its problems they offer even direct deposit now a days so your money straight in your bank
I've heard about the same problems with clickbank. People getting their money back and continuing to use the products. I haven't looked into it myself.
yes that is right even they can take there money back from clickbank, 2checkout or plimus.... this is the most common problem webmasters face everyday because of frauds...
ofcourse with clickbank all you have to do is email and boom..... refunded in 24 hrs mate therer is absolutely nothing you can do, except, encrypt your product or even better, offer an extra bonus after 30 days of purchase which would give your customers an extra incentive not to ask for a refund
What kind of digital items? Software or some type of media? If you use a more tradition third party payment processor they do fraud scrubbing to prevent chargebacks. You can also enable a licensing scheme that allows you to revoke access privileges to your product should a refund or chargeback occur.
