Hi all, I have a website which was ranking almost at 1st place in all keywords ranking. but few months back ranking in few keywords was lost, and only few keywords are ranking now at 1st page. what could be the possible reason of my keywords getting removed from 1st page in SERP and are now not visible in first 10 pages. Only few of them keywords are still ranking Please any suggestions to get my ranking back for my all keywords
Did you check your backlinks? There could be BAD backlinks especially for some keywords. Also, you could have lost some STRONG backlinks that helped you maintain your SERP before losing it!
It could be bad backlinks..It could also be a sandbox effect.. I'd have a few questions. 1) Is the domain new or aged? 2) Have you done any backlink building recently? 3) Any major changes to the content?
Are you aware that there was an update rolled out just recently? I mean, just a few months back also. You might want to check this out, http://searchengineland.com/google-releases-first-penguin-update-year-206169 There was also an update happened just last December too.
Hi Patricia Ann Lee, Thanks for your answer i knew about this update, but most of the times when penguin hits your website then your website generally disapperas from the SERP, but my website is still there on few keywords (but of less importance(low traffic keywords)) So i was wondering what to do to regain my lost keyword ranking, the steps which i need to follow.
Remove the spam/bad backlinks, concentrate on social signals. Its very difficult to recover the lost rankings, but you have to make enough work to get rid of spam backlinks , once done slowly you will see your keywords getting recovered. Some of your keywords are still ranking this can be due to less usage of those keywords in anchor link.
Thanks everyone for your kind responses, i will be checking my backlinks and would try to remove the spammy.
The best thing to do right now is to do an in-depth analysis of you link profile for sure there are spammy links that are dragging you down the SERPs. This can be a lot of work though, if there are a lot of them.
You can use some reliable backlink checker tools that can identify if there are any bad backlinks that you generated, in which it's part of being affected by the Google Panda and Penguin. For your few keywords, try to identify what backlink source or strategy did you use to rank those keywords and ended up getting lost. It's where you should analyze and adjust to get it back on track.
