Hello, I decided to sell my site a week ago, I did the trade, everything was fine until the buyer wanted refund because he wasn't able to install mysql DB or something like that. Meanwhile I already transferred domain to his server ... so I refunded him and transferred the domain back, it took some time to change Name servers so it was off few hours, but when it was set to my Name servers, it displayed parking page... I was trying to get it work and I finally got the site working after another two days (crappy godaddy CP). I thought there will be some loss of traffic, but when I looked at stats, all my Google traffic was gone, only about 5 SE queries a day from like 500+ that I had before... I found articles that said that I may loose SE traffic when the host server is changing IP, or theres DNS/WHOIS change. But I couldnt find solution, how to get my traffic back? Thanks, Smaug
It will take time say 2/3 weeks to get your site stabilized again by google. Google Bot may have come during this down period and must have been annoyed to NOT find your site. goog bot comes to my site every 8th day I play with my site all 6 days but keep quite the day bot comes. Did you have a shared ip with go daddy? I know this transfer stuff sucks with almost all hosts, there are 90% chances that you will end up screwing your traffic atleast for short time (2/3 weeks) as the transfer process takes a lot of time. I learnt my lesson. Next prefer to initiate transfer the day bot visits your site then you have maximum time. Also set re-visit meta tag to re-visit after 15 days in be ona safe side.
how'z yahoo traffic doing in this same period ? google have some unpredictable rules.. patience is important & will be necessary but anxiety kills .. goodluck
I do not care much about yahoo when it comes to optimisation. Never ever checked my rankings there. Its google that has always given visitors as good as gold.
