Lost all Backlinks which link to my website's home page

Discussion in 'Google' started by geoge2000, Aug 30, 2010.

There are about 3 weeks that keywords in my site suddenly dropped from first page to 6-10 pages.Today, I found that in the google webmaster's tools, all home page's backlinks are lost/dispeared and there is no home page showed in the "Links to your site". My website's traffic mainly depend on the home page.

    The questions:
    Does anyone have similar problems?
And is there any possiblity to get the links again?
Another question, dose google will give lower value to the old backlinks?

    Thanks.

Did you check with yahoo site explorer or other back link tools? Google webmaster tools is famous for not showing you all backlinks. It doesn't like you to see them all for some reason. Only shows you some. Always changing. Usually they do not totally disappear from webmaster tools. But, link:yoursite.com will be no where near what you really have when entering into a google search. Best to check other tools to confirm.

    gameutopia,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have checked yahoo site explorer & majestic which all have backlinks to the homepage.
But it is strange that other sites' backlinks is right in google webmaster tools. Just one site is all lost. And its rank in google drop more than 50. I know google's link is not correct, while it is not normal that all link count and infomation to homepage disapear.
Does it mean google punish my site and reclear the backlinks?

I always prefer to see the backlinks in yahoo explorer. Google webmaster tool is not so good for backlink listing.

i think thats the answer, if your links were from the same domain and then the domain goes down google will delete those links.

I am totally agreed with the posting of "dofollowlist" that if all the backlings were from the same domain it might have chanced to loose all the links if that website goes down..

Have you tried optimising your site url's? I mean Seo? If you make any change in your url's you will loose the back links. Even i had the same issue.

How fast were you building backlinks?

Sometimes time has a lot of to do with it.

    Are you building consistent backlinks?

    Thanks for all your replies.
I agree with dofollowlist's opinion if only one site links to a site. But it is not true about my site.
The links are from many sites, not just one site.

    thalada,
I have not optimise my website for several months, so I think this is not the problem.

    JoeFreeLee,
I have not add backlinks about 1-2months, but I do not think google will delete all backlinks for this reason.

So I think it is strange for this situation, as for other website , I can see the backlinks count from google webmaster tools.

I remeber that the backlinks many are from blogs and other types blogs' backlinks.
Does google have new algorithm on backlinks about blog's backlinks . Or it think they are spam?
For some reason,I can not paste my website address. Sorry for this.
