    Hi all,

This is the first time i am posting here. We are in the business of selling home and commercial light fixtures for about 10 years now. Our website is a very large ecommerce website with more than 40K pages including category, sub-category and product pages. We have been getting decent organic traffic mostly from highly competitive keywords and also from product/solution specific long tail keywords. Recently when Google changed the EMD algo we have seen a dip in the traffic (say about 60%). I can't be so sure that this is because of EMD update, but it started happening only after this update. There has been a rank drop from 1st page to 2nd page, decrease in no. of keywords driving traffic, decrease in no. of pages driving traffic, all these things have an negative impact on our organic revenue. Is there anything fundamentally wrong with our website. Here is the URL http://bit.ly/QVFHgr

I would be more than happy if i get an expert opinion on why this could have happened to us and what is the best solution for this.

It's impossible for me to know without analyzing analytics and asking you regarding the recent changes done to the website (both on and off-site). If the dip in traffic is a result of the EMD algorithm then your site didn't get penalized but devalued. In this case you will need to do some quality seo to regain the rankings you enjoyed before the EMD algorithm update.

Just keep an eye on your visitor stats for the next week or so. I wouldn't worry too much at the moment, after an algorithm update a lot of webmasters find that traffic sometimes dips, on the other hand we saw a big increase in traffic but it only lasted around a week, maybe 10 days. You'll notice a few changes in keyword movement which will effect traffic until the update has been fully integrated.

It could still be the EMD Algorithm, sometimes innocent sites get hit by Google's algorithms....

If your traffic loss started the same day of the update, and you didnt have any sort of server or access problems to the site, then yes, your site has been hit by the update. There's no way to fix it to get organic visitors again (at least not at that level).

Try linking your google webmaster tool with analytics and then track down the keyword rankings in Analytics.

I don't understand how your website was hit after EMD update even though your URL is not keyword centric. :(

I suggest you to study the analytics data further.

PM in case of any personal help :)

A Rank drop from 1st page to 2nd page will definately effect your traffic. There is a massive difference between organic traffic from rank #1 and rank #2, let alone 1st and second pages.

It could be your competitors increasing seo, or you could have been penalised by google - either way, concentrating on your on and off-site seo will help you get back on that 1st page.

I would get a professional SEO expert to take a look at it. There are so many things that Google takes into account that it is hard to pick out.

Well reading about your issue i got to know is that definetly your website got hit by "exact-match domains". If you was on top searches and having a good traffic then you are having a good SEO later but due to EMD update most of the site got effected . So try to maintain your website regarding the terms and conditions of EMD update and try to optimize your web content too. Later on after EMD update there is another update "content refresh". I think if you follow these two things then keywords will again rank in top searches of search engine.

I also think that your site has got affected by last Penguin update. So according to the algorithm's criteria manage your site with avoiding over optimization, back links with unmatched domain to your domain, putting fresh contents, proper alt tags...etc.Study and manage, hope you'll get the better result.Google is too smart to encounter your site.So be careful.

i think that your website is not affected by the EMD update because your domain is not keyword based.. just check your analytics data and check your backlinks profile such as lost backlinks.. be patient i will regain its position..
