loss of placement

Several of the terms I've used the network for (and several of Shawns) have dropped from top 3 to no where... looking for an alternative reason, but the only thing my pages had in common were the use of network weight.

KEEP IN MIND: It didn't ban the site, it simply seems to have removed the usefulness of the links.

There seems to be lot of people getting their keywords dropped in Google (relating to Co-op). I'm thinking if I should pull my ads?! I rather have my SERP before joning co-op than no ranking at all..

It seems to revert back to where they were prior to placing the co-op, not dropping the placement completely. I'd stick through it until we see a co-op wide drop.

You can check all of mine:

Used to be on the first page for all 4 of these terms:

    photography forum
    photography forums
    digital photography forum
    digital photography forums

I was #1 for allinanchor for all 4 as well, now I'm barely in the top 100 in teh serps, and the allinanchor's have all droped as little as three, to as much as non-existant.

It's not neccessarily the co-op, but the concept behind the co-op: rotating, non-static, off-topic links.

A solid way around that problem (if we decide that is the problem) would be having links carrying similar weight exchanging semi-static links (which would stay in place for weeks or even months at a time)

I think it would have to be long term, like 3+ months, if it's going to work... a neat idea, though...

I dropped my sites from the co-op about two and a half weeks ago. Why? Because all the gains I had gotten from the co-op disappeared and I was right back to the ranking positions I had before joining the co-op. I made the decision to get out of the program, but decided not to say anything about it, because frankly, it sounded like a rash thing to do, and I didn't want to make false claims that the co-op was bad, if in fact it wasn't. In any case, since dropping out of the network, my sites have slowly started gaining in rank - not back to top 10 as before, but making a nice slow crawl upwards. I'm actually sorry to hear that I may have been right - I was hoping I was wrong. But I think the non-permanence of the links (and possibly the non-themed links) may be the culprit. It doesn't look like being in the network did any real harm - just that it may end up not doing any real good on a permanent basis.

Added: I did let Shawn know about it at the time, so that he could keep an eye out for any similar things happening to his sites.

I guess we just wait for Shawn, then... I'll leave to co-op up until then, I guess...

I use it only for affiliate programs I just started anyway so it isn't a loss to me at all. I'll be in for a long haul just to see where it takes me. ;)

Yeah, I've only been using it for 1 site, which is my test site, so it's not a huge deal... hopefully it's just a bump in the google road, though...
