I have a site that sell using cubcart and pay processes using paypal. A number of people put the items in the basket, register with my site but then don't complete the order due to having to sign up with paypal. In the last hour out of 25 people placing orders, 6 have not completed the transaction due to (i guess) not wanting to sign up with paypal (or cant be bothered to sign up with paypal). I have now put a notice on the item: imply add the quantity of tickets you want to buy to the cart, hit "view cart " and follow the instructions from there! You will be directed to the paypal page - if you dont have an account, sign up for paypal- it only takes a 30 seconds! I hope this helps - losing 6 orders is not cool. Any other suggestions? Thanks Jamie Edit: Not wanting to pre-empt any good advice that was undoubtly going to flow my way but i have phoned up the people that did not complete payment and persuaded them to place the order again and sign up with paypal!! Persistence seems to be the key to blocking peoples laziness. ..still - any suggestions in how to get them to not be too lazy to sign up in the first place still appreciated!!
Have you priced a merchant account? 6 orders lost per hour sounds like it would easily pay for a merchant processing system.
Unfortunately a merchant account is not yet cost beneficial due to the size of order being fairly small and that for some months of the year the site does not sell anything due to season. I will keep looking into it though. Thanks for your replies
