Hi, I am a newbie (and French) and I have few questions to ask about Affiliate programs When you apply to an affiliate company, like dell, do you have to write something about my website, or do you give them your URL? Can I use my own creations to promote a product? As far as tracking is concerned, they use cookie to track sales, but how do they determine that the sale has been done through your website? The latest cookie is the one? If someone clicks on the ad on my website and then goes to google to find and buy the product, will I lose the commission? I hope I am clear enough.... Thanks in advance
Every network I have signed up for requires a top level domain and a fully constructed website. You are given tracking links with your particular info within, so that is how the commission will be or should be tracked.
Affiliate links usually include affiliates' id code and if someone clicks your affiliate link and then your affiliate id info is stored in cookies in your computer. Even if the same person first click your affiliate link and then go to google and find the company's site and buy the product there, you'll be credited commissions because of the cookie info in your computer. But the cookie will only be tracked by the affiliate program within a period of time, eg. one month, 90 days, etc.
