over the past 3 days i've gone from 3000+ back links to 1900. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?

Are these carefully targeted, hand built links?

OK I tried to be subtle, let me approach the question from a different angle.

Have these comments been submitted with blog-commenting software?

This is odd, you shouldn't be losing this many...its a lot. Are you posting comments on blogs related to your niche?

I've seen this happen when a site is being penalized. Search in google for your domain minus the .com and see if your site still comes up 1st.

I suppose it could be that the blog owners don't want your comments added and have just got round to removing your posts?

    Just a thought....

Sometimes it depends on how you are checking these links… May be tool you are using is buggy or you are checking is on Google Webmaster Tool (which never shows accurate count of backlinks, deliberately)
Most of your links are from blog commenting, so, there is possibility that blog owner removed your backlinks to keep his blog clean and spam free.
