A battery charger is the reason an innocent man was held for 5 years without trial by the 'democratic' Americans. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6515701.stm This poses a few questions: 1. Is it right for someone to be held for posessing a battery charger? 2. Are the CIA illegally operating in foreign countries? 3. Is US really a democracy? 4. What is the GTech excuse for this going to be? Also, facts about the treatment of the innocent man were released: Is this acceptable to Americans whose media go crazy when one Israeli is wounded? Why don't the US media report on this? Are some humans more important than others to the US? The last thing that is really worrying is this: What is the American excuse for this? Someone who did exactly the same thing but will probably be held for another 5 years (without charge).
This poses a few questions: 1. Is it right for someone to be held for posessing a battery charger? Not last time I checked. 2. Are the CIA illegally operating in foreign countries? That is what the CIA does. 3. Is US really a democracy? It is a Republic.
I am still waiting for the GTech excuse.....maybe one of the Gtech gang would like to jump in here....
If the "suspicious device" was a simple battery charger, it could have been verified within minutes..What took 5 years? CIA was trying to prove the connections between said man and terrorists, but apparently failed.. hummmmm And UK was interested in his release because he worked with MI5?? WTH??
Read the news article I posted a link to. It clearly states that the device was a battery charger - FACT. The question of what took 5 years is one I don't know the answer to. Why not ask the CIA? The fact is that the man is innocent and was released and is not being investigated by the UK either. The reason his case was taken up is that he helped MI5. In the same way, Britain is granting asylum to Iraqi interpreters who help them in Iraq because they face torture in Iraq from miltia - is this so bad?? The key word is 'alleged'. He has been totally cleared of these alleged charges and is innocent yet he was held for 5 years without trial until US released their stupid mistake.
You said 'IF the suspicious device.....' The fact you said 'if' suggested you doubted it. The FACT is it was a battery charger....
I said - "If the "suspicious device" was a simple battery charger, it could have been verified within minutes..What took 5 years?" Thats general question in whole...
Exactly that is my question too. This is what the US is doing, holding people with no evidence and they are getting away with it!
The bureaucracy and lack of responsibility. Any item can be a suspicious item. a match box can start a fire, a battery charger can be used as ignition device for a bomb, a pocket knife can be murder weapon. There is enough with one over ambitious government employee that doesn't like the look of person to get that person arrested. In civilized countries, people have to be charged with a crime during certain number of hours or days which means that such mistakes are corrected mostly by prosecutors or judges. In a no law land, the person will be processed to a prison and most likely due to no time restriction, will spend some time before they get around to question the person. By this time, it is most likely that the person dealing with this prisoner is not even sure why this person is there. Only another prisoner or enemy to be tortured in hope of getting information. A torture center is like any other inefficient federal bureaucracy but instead of not processing building permits in timely manner, they won't process the prisoners and instead of giving out mails like post office, they dish out torture. For a torturer the process of torturing a human is as impersonal as the mailman giving out the mail.
If this is the whole story, it's terrible. The United States was founded on the opposite principles of this administration and the CIA in general. We are supposed to have God-given rights to certain freedoms, even IF a few people will take advantage of these freedoms to hurt us. The president thinks the times we are living in are an exception to the rules set forth by our nations forefathers. The fact is this country was founded on the idea that these basic rights are not to be tampered with for any exception. People have used their freedoms to hurt the United States in the past, and they will continue to do so in the future. By taking away a person's basic rights as a reaction to terrorism, the terrorists have won by changing our country for the worse.
