Looking to get my website http://www.thehomedirectory.net on first page for Los Angeles real estate in google and was wondering what you think I need to do to get that. I have been submitting to directories and we are about to start a press campaign so we should get a few backlinks from that. Any suggestions?
depends on budget but maybe ads in newspapers (target some of the smaller newspapers) bullitin boards , bus stop etc...
working on backlinks the site really isnt too old and already receiving some good traffic but have 998 backlinks right now and most good PR backlinks so was wondering also what it would take to get it listed on first page since I know that is a real high paying keyword so I would say it is hard to get

so the whole key would be to just get as many quality backlinks as I could because that is what I am working on now. Then as far as other things what do I need to do to really get listed on first page of those type of categories
Before you even look on off site optimization, you should look better on in site optimization. What i can suggest you is to reorder the title of your home page from The Home Directory - Los Angeles & New York Real Estate to Los Angeles & New York Real Estate - The Home Directory. You should give importance to title optimization. You might also want to read more seo tutorials to understand some other on-page seo (which I bet will help your rankings pretty much).
