Man, don't panick ... page 2 is already pretty good ... I've had some 1rst page on Google sites of mine stay on page 2 for a couple of days or weeks and then come back to where they were. Really, you can't just wish for page 1 all the time.
I do as well link exchange but I didn't lose any pagerank. I think the best you can do is praying to god, because google won't hear you.
First of all check your link partners pages pr, especially the pages your link on. Your pr is rigidly bound with its pr
My website is 3 years old. I have held the position for the last whole year. Sometimes it would fluctuate, like fr #2 to #3 or even #4 but it used to be stay #2 and #3 mostly. The reasons that I am in a state of panic is becuase I have lost some PR as well. That's not good. I can't really check each and every site that carries my link. It's impossible to check that :s Thanks for the quick response. Any more suggestions? z
Most of the advices above are valid. I can only tell you not to panick as sometimes it happens for a website to loose the rankings for a few days only to come back stronger. You'll obviously need to build backlinks but make sure they are quality and relevant for your website. Apart from RSS feeds, videos and all the other stuff (most of the rss and video sharing sites offer no follow links) I would recommend to try submitting your website to a list of high quality web directories (most of them would be paid). This helps a lot from my experience
I would wait, far too soon to worry with all the updates going on, my suggestion give it another 1 week and then check
I don't have too much in the way of grand SEO answers. But my questions are okay sometimes So is it the whole site that got hammered? Or just some of the pages? How many pages do you have?
"Also, I would like to know more about Google's approach towards Link exchange. Do they not like it anymore? " I suggest you only get one way links. Google don't like link exchanges which are done to manipulate PR. "Must we place a nofollow tag for every outbound link?" If you have paid link in your site, then I guess yes, you will need to put no follow tag as Google don't like paid links.
Google don't penalise you for link exchanges, exchanged links just give you little benefit. One way links like angilina says are the best. Google can tend to make newer sites swing up and down the SERPs. Is your site new?
Actually, I would have not freaked out had I only lost SERP, the reason I am I panic is because I lost PR. I don't know why I lost PR? This is something new to me. I don't know how to get my PR back. I know I have to build more links but that takes time. Can any one please share any good ideas for no-follow free one way links? Like I said, I have never taken any participation in link buying or selling for that matter. I was too slow building links lately. I was mostly busy submitting my site to different directories to see if I can get more traffic off them. Should I not do that anymore? Is it okay to submit to web directories? Currently, I am adding more content and am also busy publishing my articles on article directories. I believe that is safe for now. I have also removed the table structure of my site and have turned it into a tableless CSS website. I have removed each and every outbound link from my website. So there are no more outbound links. I have left the title, meta descriptions as they were. The code has become a lot more neat since there are no more tables now. There were a few pages where the content was not showing properly. Due to some database problem. I have removed each and every single page that was not showing properly (truncated articles). Angilina: No, I don't have paid links on my site and have never paid for any link either I am actually quite proud of that See that's why I don't get it. Why did I lose PR? IF I make it out fine, I'll write down a full case study so that others could benefit from it as well. Right now, I need your help in ideas for getting one way backlinks. Thanks a lot everyone, z
well the changes you have done seem to be quite quick well for getting back pR you will have to wait atleast 3 months(till the next google pr update!) Dont panic about PR , google dosent seem to give importance to PR anyway! May be your site went down due to update dewey(I myself suffered with a newly launched site!) dont remove all outbound links it looks like a spammy site which dosent link to others. But make sure you link only to relevant sites only.(no-follow may be done to those links but not suggested) Ok carry on with fresh content and slowly develope links.Dont expect to get back rankings in a day.Go out have a beer and make yourself tension-free(i had actually suffered the same) i suggest donot do any more directory submissions now Well for how many days and to how many directories did you submit your site?may be I have got an answer for this fall back...! so do reply
Yup, we did everything in just one day. Also added RSS feeds but I don't really know much about them I have been submitting to many directories for a long time BUT, I did participate in 3 way link exchange with sites related to my niche only. Also, I would promote my site on social bookmarking websites and that's about it. I am keeping a close eye on my traffic stats. Even though I am on the second page now, I still receive hits from the first page but when I check it, my site's on second page still. Do write back if you can Thanks you guys! z
well then just concentrate on building new content and try targetting a new keyword I again suggest that you replace outgoing links on your site otherwise may be your site will be isolated. another advice-donot change your page title or description as they are considered as spam by google if done often. You may change them after some months if you want May be you should PM me your website for more advice
Hi, In competitive keyword this is happen, i think you do more quality back links and at least one article submit daily. and doing all off page activities regularly. All the best
I am adding at least one fresh and unique article each day. I am also submitting my old articles to other article submission websites. I have deleted all outbound links from my site but someone here also suggested that I keep a few outbound links with no-follow as not having any outbound links will make it look spammy. The issue is, I don't need to place any outbound links and my site is 3 years old now so I think this should not be a major issue. But as I type this, there is not even a single outbound link on my site. We have not changed the title/description and neither are we planning to do so as the combination worked well for us. Though, we have changed the code from tables to css and I hope that will only have a positive affect. Please do correct me if I am wrong though. I read on Webmasters world that directory submission works well. What do guys have to say about this? What is your opinion? I feel very calm now because of the help I am getting from everyone here! Thanks again, z
Google changes pretty fast now .. one day you can be #1 ..the next you might be #10 ..the next #36 etc .. If you're serious about getting back to #1 as in like overnight , try the Google Adwords section. Some might say it has no effect ..but uhh.. I wouldn't take them too seriously. This forum is mainly about creating the ranking and SERPS through SEO efforts, but if you need a quick change in position..Google Adwords tends to work. Put up a ton of keywords and long tail phrases. As many as possible. bid them right at the level to make them show up. they not only appear on Google to the side as ads, they also get placed onto many websites that do the Adsense etc Your main keywords that are most relevant to your site should be the only ones you actually boost in CPC to be clicked on. As for the rest of the wider scale , long phrase and generic phrases that include at least one of your keywords OR misspellings of the keywords that people might use, ..those should be getting like 10 to 15 or 20 to 30 position possibly. Your main keywords are for sales or visits, the others are used for mass bulk placement connection. It might say you've had 3,516 impressions ..but only 8 clicks on some of those words, but thats actually a good thing in my opinion since you want those words connected or in relation to your site by being all over the Internet ..yet, you might not find them as relevant enough key words to justify people clicking on them to come to your site. People might want to debate the whole Adwords SERP connection, but I've seen a keyword SERP go from #4 on in conjunction with heavy Adword use..when the Adwords were switched to another keyword, that original SERP fell off the search engines within 4 days ..a steady decline, and then good luck finding it .. lol
you kinda know your problem, work on link building and adding fresh content is just soooooo important you have no idea
