    You're absolutely right. High PR is definitely an asset worth having.

    But, the point I wanted to make was that the toolbar update won't (IMO) affect SERPs, as this is not the real PR used for calculating SERPs. If anybody has seen a major jump is their rankings as a result of this update, please feel free to correct me.

    I should have a lot of weight from several site to play with now...Does anybody know what datacenter the coop uses to check pr? Or does Shawn just use the standard "toolbarqueries" server?

    It won't effect initial serps, that is correct. However it opens the door to better linking possibilities because it gives a benchmark that shows a couple of things. 1) Google's estimated value of your site; 2) A good inditication that you aren't a "bad neighborhood".

    So, while some may think PR is worthless, there are some intangibles involved that do work to your benefit, though not immediate.

    Actually, over the past week I have seen huge changes in the SERP's for one of our clients' main key phrase. A bunch of new sites appeared in the index, and many drops as well.

    Damn, looks like I'm down to PR5 on my main site which is going to result in about 15,000 lost weight. Luckily I'm up to 5 on another and I've gained 3,000 backlinks so maybe that will make up the lost weight.
