Here are some of the stats of one of the site :

    4 PageRank >>>>>>>>>>
    No DMOZ
    No Yahoo! Directory
    1,237,571 Alexa Rank
    0 Backlinks from Google
    1 Backlinks from Yahoo!
    0 Backlinks from MSN
    33 Results from AltaVista
    4 Results from AllTheWeb

So, i guess a few good backlinks links are enough for getting a PR 4, and may be even higher ..

    Hi

Yes you are right. But I feel PR is not depending upon the back links only. As per my experience a site could get PR 2 without having any Back link. If that site have Unique and informative content with good quality and relevant topic also helps to get the good PR.

I agree - I think Google is increasingly giving more power to links coming from big domains - one or 2 PR4 links will be better for your sites PR than many PR 1 links in my opinion

This can be real but have you checked that the PR is not faked or it's a dropped domain PR. Google manages to give PR to parked domains too :)

True. Quality is more important than quantity.
1PR10 backlink can bring the website to PR6

Lifeplayer - you say 1 pr10 backlink can bring the website to pr6. How do you go about finding - not to mention getting - such a backlink?????

There are many good designed web site that start out at a PR 4 level. As they add new pages and quality links, it will stay at that level. But many just stop and the site starts to droup to a PR 3.

Many of the PR 2 sites we see have used a highspeed linking concept like recriprocal linking (250 links per month).

And the PR1 sites were using something in the "Black Hat range".

Enjoy the PR 4 and don't over do your SEO.

Sorry but I would have to disagree with this comment. You will not get PR without backlinks. If your content is good enough, it may attract some natural backlinks which in turn build PR.

For that example website, they likely didn't get PR4 from their few backlinks. They likely did a 301 redirect from a different PR4 website. Or possibly they had more backlinks before which were dropped for one reason or another. I'm not saying it is impossible to get high PR from a few links, but usually it is not the case.

Yep. No backlinks, no PR. Probably PR from a 301 redirect from some other domain.

    that is true!

If you have a few links that has a good pr then it is better than having a lot of pr 0 back links.
