Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to look up a PayPal address and see if the user is verified or not. I'd like to check things like that before sending them money, you know? Make sure the name on the account is the same as who I think I am sending too, etc. If I send Mass Pay it'd be good if I could look up an account first. Is this possible? Thanks!
I am not sure if there is a way to do a mass check but one way around it would be to initiate the 'Send Money' and set it to 'Service' to that email address. Just do not complete through the whole process. On the second screen, it would show the person's name, reputation ratings and also if it is a verified or unverified account. Click on the Account Status link and it will show which country and if it is a Business or Personal account.
I always do waht eddy2099 posted to do, I just start a transaction and then lookup the reputation of the user.
I just learned of a quicker way to make sure an account is verified. You won't see as much info, but it's quick and tells you when the account was created and its status. https://www.paypal.com/us/verified/pal=[EMAIL ADDRESS HERE example: https://www.paypal.com/us/verified/pal=testingaccount@test.com Try it out!
Simply because Paypal makes it possible for a non-member to pay someone via Paypal using a credit card, and in a position as such you'd still be likely to get curious about the seller's status or reputation, even if you aren't registered with Paypal yourself.
