Hi, I think there is really an untapped Goldmine here. If you know anything about hittail, then you know that it is a simple plugin that tells you the keywords that someone used to find your website and from which SE they came from. Pretty simple stuff. But over time these keywords add up and make a LONG TAIL of keywords for a niche that you really couldn't come up with in your wildest dreams. And the prices on the keywords are almost nothing, with almost no competition because they are so obscure. Anyways. I have a foot-related website with 1800 keywords that all pertain to foot problems and such. How much would a list like that be worth to a PPC marketer? Tons. The information on what hittails people used to reach your site, only really relates to your site. There might be some curiosity value in a very competitive field, but I think it's too specific to the particular users of the site that the data was taken from to be generally useful. And anyone can get a free account from hittail.
The hittail data is only a collection of actual keywords used to reach your site and referrer (from search engines). You're right there is incredible value with hittail results because it is SPECIFIC to your web site and market. That information is unique and is miles better than any results third party keyword research tools provide, furthermore, it's real-time. Having said that, if you accrue a sizable database of words for a particular industry, why would you sell that to a competitor? It's worth its weight in gold so I can't see any right-minded webmaster giving up this asset.
