I would like to embed a youtube video into my blog, and remove the sound so it doesn't annoy people when it autoplays. Does anyone know how I can strip the video of sound and play the original movie?
Virtual Dub its free. Can be found by googling it. Go to second tab select no audio. Then run the program. This file might be a bit big so compress it using with a suitable encoder, like Pegasus MJPEG compressor. Just google that also if it is not free you will be able to use the trial. Shawn
Thanks, very helpul - but I am not looking to edit a video - I am looking to play an embedded video, but mute the sound.
Youtube video is in FLV format. So first you will have to convert it to AVI. WinAVI can do that. Then open the video in VirtualDubMod, go to Streams -> Stream list and disable the current stream. Then go to Video -> Direct stream copy and then F7 to finally save the file. Now you have an audioless video file. Upload it to Youtube and you are done.
Uh yeah. You unfortunately can't (from what I've found) take out the sound by editing the embed code, which was my first idea.
Thanks for all the replies. Shame that it doesn't seem to be able to be done, although I have an idea. I will test and post if it works out.
