Looking to query campaign, ad group and keyword from landing page

    I am generating leads from an Adwords campaign that drives traffic to a form that does an XML post to a DB. I obviously use Google Analytics to track conversion etc... however I cannot tell which lead came from which ad group (keyword etc). I would like to query the Campaign, Ad Group and Keyword from the landing page so that I can include that in my XM post to the DB.

    Ideas??

    What you want to do is install the Adwords conversion tracking code on your thank you page only. You'll be able to see in Adwords conversions down to the ad and keyword levels.

    I have the tracking code on my Thank You page and Google Analytics tracks it fine. What I want to do is capture the Campaign, Ad Group and Keyword of each conversion on my landing page and send that information with the lead data in my XML post to my database.

    Most people confuse the Adwords conversion tracker with Analytics and I think you do too. They are different things.

    The Adwords conversion tracker tracks conversions only. It will show you want you want in your Adwords account. You could then download this data into your database.

    You could also set the parameters in Adwords to send the keyword that triggered your ad like this as part of your URL:
    ?{keyword:default}

    This doesn't show the match type however, which I think is important to know. There is also no equivalent parameter for which ad was used. You'd have to manually set a unique code for each ad, somewhat of a pain to track. From these, you can determine the group and campaign although you could set a parameter for these as well. Your best option however in my opinion is using the conversion tracker as it gives the most accurate information.

    Through Ad words I can get all of the metrics for how each campaign, group and word performs; however what neither Google or Adwords tracking will tell me is that a conversion with lead id: 1234 was generated through "Ad Group: 1, Keyword: widget" and that is what I was trying to discern.

    What you are saying though, is that there really is no way to capture the information from the landing page short of passing parameters. Correct?
