Looking to Make Site More Professional Looking

Hello, im looking for advice on how to make my site more professional as it growing in size but I think it looks a bit amaturish. Im looking for a better look to keep people interested as my stats tell me alot just come for one page and leave. The url is http://www.fashion-forums.com . Thanks

 

Take a look at many professional site and get an idea how your site would look. Anything cartoon is out of the picture. If you want just get a real life picture instead and edit it from photoshop.

 

Yes, loose the cartoon characters. Create a new banner/logo that is related.
And Im not feeling the pink. That color makes me feel like this site was designed by a thirteen year old girl.

I happen to like the pink - maybe just not so much! And I agree with Jason, you need more of a logo at the top. It just looks a little ho-hum as it is.

I think those clean pics could improve your website.

 

The pink seem like a good choice given the content of the site, but the sheer volume of it seems overwhelming. Maybe a more neutral color with pink accents would look better??

BTW-
Given the current color scheme, GREAT JOB blending the adsense ads, they fit in very well and don't seem obtrusive.

 

Consider integrating your forum into an actual site because right now it just looks like yet another modded down forum. Personally if I come across these by accident I leave them as fast as i enter them and more importantly as your forums increase in popularity if you are not paying good hosting money then your site will slow down considerably. Take the time to integrate the forum....your viewers/posters will thank you or it.

 

Less is more - you may have pink - but use it a bit less with some nice coordinating colors - check out www.colourlovers.com for this...

Also, considering the target audience I would make things more smooth and rounded and lose the 'box' look.

I would pay 5-10 bucks here and get someone to make you a site theme banner and buttons. That is a simple change to make it look much better.

 

I'd be up for that.

 

I would add some black in there and lose the cartoon people. Black outlines with the pink would look better, IMHO.

 

I suggest making the naviagtion buttons smaller too, they look a little childish that big.

I would create a 100 pixel high picture to cover the whole width, include your logo / branding and artwork in this section. Get rid of the dodgy looking characters in the top right hand corner too.

the sunglasses picture looks better than the cartoon people.

But maybe still abit too much pink?

and would DEFINETLY get some sort of logo.

its not amazing, but its more to give you an idea of what you might want to aim for.

There are some cracking graphics people on here, so make a post asking for someone to make you a logo.

And if you do want to keep the pink, you may want to atleast tone the colour down a little.
