I am currently in the stage of getting a site up for my new company. Your job will be to code the template that is given for the site. The site will be coded in hopefully psp and maybe some ajax if needed. If you can program c++ applications that will be a huge plus for a project that ties in a little further down the road. The application will be a desktop application that will connect to the database that we have on the site...If im not mistaking you can do that with both.
PHP is (under most uses) strictly an HTTP based system, but C/C++ are mostly for desktop/server applications, they're personally my favorites but C# and all the .NET stuff are (in my opinion) just a big scheme that they're teaching in schools because they're being funded to teach it. I look at it as being pretty similar to ASP, it's Microsoft pushing to get their proprietary software out there.
