It really depends on the specifics of each order.

Niche site owners, for example, often give us a list of keywords, and for each keyword, we are given the liberty to come up with an engaging, informative and highly readable article. The keyword density level and other requests must be faithfully observed, of course.

Some desire articles that can be compiled as eBooks, as special reports, or even as e-courses. Generally, they give a main topic and our job is to come up with step-by-step procedures on matters pertaining to a relevant aspect of that subject. Each article should organically flow to the next.

Others want articles they could submit to directories. Personally, I believe that the client should be allowed to request for unlimited rewrites when it comes to this kind of orders, since these articles should be designed as link baits.

Bottom line is that it depends on what the client wants, and the best deliverables can be achieved through open communication between the parties so that each and every expectation would be met.

Are you referring to PLR articles submitted to article banks?

Duplicate content will most definitely result in the rejection of the article, or worse, the banning of the submitter's account.

How does one get around this?

They say that rewriting the article by effectuating at least a 25% alteration would be enough to dupe any digital or human editors.

IMHO, if you're going to rewrite an article by that much, might as well write one from scratch and make sure that every sentence reads well and every thought naturally flows to the next. Your online business and your credibility will be judged by these articles, after all. Might as well make them the best that they could ever be.
