Hey everyone, I'm looking to get started in my challenge of becoming a "server administrator". Was thinking that most of the things I do are on the web, so I figured Apache would be a good starting point. (If you have a suggestion as to where else to begin, all comments are welcome) I want to know what exactly you need to learn to become a "professional" at administrating server systems. This is crucial since I am beginning a web hosting business soon, and I will be managing all the servers myself. I already know a large portion about hardware, software, and networking (still learning). But I could take a computer apart and put it back together in just under five minutes. Any friendly help that is sent my way would be very much so appreciated.
Orielly books, like the Apache Cookbook are one of the best sources for system administration... I have most of them, and I still use 'em for reference.
There isn't a guide to being a server administrator, only experience and time will tell you that your a server systems administrator.
