Looking to finally start making money online =)

Hey guys, I'm looking to finally get in on it ... never too late right?

I have worked on a few relatively big web projects with a friend of mine but none were ever completed because we overcomplicated them (for 2 guys with full-time jobs.) I would like to start something a little bit simpler/faster.

I am looking for suggestions on getting started.

I have a basic knowledge of HTML/CSS/PHP, I'm a dentist, and I'm 25. I guess I'm looking for a small supplemental income. I know I won't make nearly as much as I make at work, but I have always enjoyed messing around with my computer I would also like to make a hobby out of it.

I would love any suggestions. I haven't dealt with google adwords before so any advice on that would be great.

Investing a bit of money is not a problem for me as long as there is a fairly good chance of getting some return on investment.

One thing i thought of doing is just making lots of .info google ads sites where I would pay people for some content on various topics and just leave them static. Maybe do some research into linkbuilding and work on that.

My advice:
Start with a small project. Like getting one site to rank high for one phrase in Google.
When you have reached this, and the site is making atleast 50$ a month you can set up 10 more. Not the other way around!. This will make the differnce between wasting a year trying to make money and spend two months gaining the knowledge you need to make money.
It doesn't matter whether you are planning to do white hat or black hat. You will not get anywhere before you have accomplished this first step.

One last thing: Everything you read on webmaster blogs are pure crap.

 

If you can't handle big project.why not do some small project such as coding some simple design of webpage.
Just bid for the related job at freelance site

ye, count me in also. i want to make something online, but i'm a bit confused as to how you can get high up in the search engine ranks. i heard about SEO, is that what i ought to be aiming for? or are there other methods i'm just not aware of - some online guides would be good i suppose.

Create a resource for destists (or something that you are passionate or knowledgeable about)
create something useful and put some ads or affiliate links on it

do some SEO so that traffic can come
keep updating with new content and your income will slowly rise

 

dude if you are a dentist why not u get a domain, write an ebook about something related like tooth whitening, how to keep them good, to have a smile whatever. Then get a nice sales letter, start selling at 18$. Make 5 sales per day and you will get 90$ daily. Good for a start huh? almost 2800$ monthly is good for a hobby right?!

 

Start with something teeth related as you already know that stuff. Get a few pages up, submit articles and open an adsense account. Keep adding content and submitting articles and you'll get traffic and clicks. Build from there.

I do not suggest that dude. You will need a lot of work to start actually getting any clicks. 2 days ago i made a new site and earned a few hundred selling that product ..........................................................................

 

by product do you mean you sold the site to someone or did you write an ebook? Here is a blog i started a while ago... but never bothered doing anything with... www.miniteeth.com what do you guys think of it? Any suggestions?

I like the content and the overall design.
just one thing - try to customize the color of the Adsense blocks so they fade with the rest of the page design.

 

I think that the trick is you are a dentist. How much is a lead worth to you? How much would it be worth to you if you could get one more customer (convert that into the number of inquiries & divide). My suggestion would be to think about this, you already have a high margin product to sell for far more that most of us. Can you create a website and get people in your geographic area to go to the website?

 

I'd say to find yourself a good mentor to help you get focused and started in the right direcetion. A mentor will also be able to guide you and critque the things you are doing. Just remember, all mentors are not created equally so you might have to do a little research to find the best to fit your needs first.

Traffic Arbitrage, Affiliate.. You have the choice but PPC is a really hard think you must have much money! A++

 

If your a dentist my advice would be stick to that. Getting good at that will make you a ton more money than just doing internet marketing some on the side. If you enjoy internet marketing just for the fun of it though my advice would be to start a blog/site about something you know, so in your case dentistry.

 

Like I said... I already make a lot more money than I can make with any kind of internet marketing unless I am one of the few shining stars. I am interested in building something, growing something etc because of the hobby aspect.

I can appreciate where you're coming from. I'm on the other end--retired professional. I'm doing this as a hobby and if I can make anything, OK. If not, OK too. There is a lot to know about SEO and web site development, especially when you start from scratch. I'm clawing my way up the learning curve. You will too. You had the intelligence and dedication to get through dental school. You certainly can learn this. Good luck.

 

start a blog and blog about your interests like dental procedures,diseases and so on
in a short time will become a great hobby
