Agreed, you need to start now. First, the bread and butter stuff - directories. Not all of them, just some decent looking niche directories. Sign up with some social bookmarking sites and start bookmarking your posts. Get a nice list of blogs and sites in your niche, and start connecting with them. Comment on their posts, tweet their links, talk to them, bookmark their posts. You will get some links to your site this way, even though they are not powerful they still help, and you develop relationships that can help you, for example, they tweet your links and send you traffic, which attracts backlinks, guest posting opportunities. Actually, guest posting is a really good way of getting links right now, because you get a nice link in the body of an article, which google absolutely loves. Don´t worry if the blog is not high pr, as long as it is indexed, your golden. You are looking to get a range of links from different sites. I completely agreed to this point. You have to start your campaign with bang. I would say go for directories submission, article submission, blog posting, comments on do follow post, three way link exchange and social bookmarking. I am sure you will get success soon.
As quick as possible? Forum signatures, blog comments, and article marketing seems to be the best. Personally, I wouldn't even bother wasting my time submiting to directories.
Also, why not produce content that people will want to link to? Natural linking can be powerful and save you a lot of time and money.
Advertise on social media. link exchange with related sites. join different forums and blogs. write articles. submit your site to directories.
Blog commenting is the best way to increase your backlinks. It is the best source of do follow oneway links.
Blog comment on blogs with the "recent comment" widget. You'll get 1000 BLs overnight. How effective is this, i'm not sure.

I will give you a backlink plan in short : First is On-page leverage is must and then get google to re-cache. Second try to get atleast 50 of the backlinks mentioned below : Profile backlinks, Forum Backlinks, Blog Backlinks, Blog Comments, edu/gov. Third get these things done asap : Press Release once a week, Web 2.0, Social Bookmarking, Cross Bookmarking, Video sites, Submission to Article directories (5 a week) and RSS directories (atleast 20 a week).
Remove from your vocabulary QUICK and FAST ... In SEO TIME is TIME ... and NOTHING is Fast and Quick ...
The key is to spread the links among as many types of sites. Invest in some good software that will help you get a lot of links as quick as possible. Some software out there will do 90% of the work for you, just requires a little bit from you.
Another quick little way to get some free links is too add your blog to free SEO directory’s, there are loads of these around as there was a big boost in the numbers recently as many webmasters where trying to cash in on the market by building free link directory’s to offer free links to there own websites as a link building method and to make revenue off of advertising in exchange for offering a free link to another website. If you search in Google for ‘Free SEO link directory’ or ‘Free Directory to submit links’ you will find loads so add your site to them and make sure you fill the description full of keywords. For example if it was a listing for TechGeeks Online, the description shouldn’t be ‘TechGeeks Online is the best Tech website on the internet’ it should just be filled with related keywords in what should be at least a readable sentence for example ‘TechGeeks Online offers tips on SEO, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Apple, Linux, Gadgets, Cell phones and other tech related tips’ remember Google doesn’t read your lovely description from a humans point of view it sees the keywords and thinks yeah! Awesome this website is going to the top!
backlinksforum is a great place to see what other people are doing and to learn how to build them on an industrial scale.
Hi Why you want it fast. If you make if fast it looks like spamming, if google track that the rank will drop dramatically. Its bad practice to built link quickly. Try to make naturally.
