Hi there! I'm a webapp coder, and I'm looking for some brilliant webapp ideas to code up! Problem is, I have none. Does anyone have any amazing ideas they don't mind sharing? Or, if you don't just want to give them away, we could team up if you could bring anything to the plate.
Just think. Look around at your daily life and see what you wish you could do online and try to solve that problem. Also look at people who complain - they are the best source for ideas. There are always better ways to do things. Look at google. They became a multi billion dollar company simply because they made search more accurate. The only thing page did was count how many and what type of links a page had and used that a sort of voting mechanism. The more links, the better the page quality. That was the basic idea at least. Here is a couple ideas I've had. 1. Improve online dating. Everyone is out looking for love, people even pay sites if they think the site will work for them. Try and figure out a better way to match people up. Match.com become a multi-million dollar business because people thought the idea of taking a quiz and then showing you people who scored similar on that quiz was a good idea. The best improvements in a technology are simple improvements. 2. Improve job search. This is one thing I've considered doing but never got around to do. Basically, there are tons of job search sites out there that allow you to look for jobs - careerbuilder, monster, craigslist and so on. However, these sites are generally not so great. As a job seeker I want to go to a site that only lists jobs from certain companies, mainly the fortune 500 (500 biggest US companies based on revenue). Most of these sites have career listings on their website. However, I want to search all those companies, not be forced to visit each site to see their career offerings. Indeed.com does something like this but it only allows to search all company websites not just fortune 500.
killer2021, thanks for the tips, I see what you're saying. But dating and job search are already so saturated! there are already so many huge companies out there that I fear I wouldn't stand a chance. PAge succeeded because he was one of the first; what if Page was going up against the present-day google when he started?
