I have been designing web sites for businesses since 1996. I admit I didn't think about how to grow my business or how scalable it was until the past few years. What I am looking for is someone who has real-life business experience in the web development/design/marketing industry that I can tap for some guidance. I am concerned that my current model is not scalable and that there are steps I can take to accelerate my company's growth. Or, is the 'building web sites for others' model not as good as 'build sites for myself' model? I have never tried the latter but am curious to test the waters. My apologizes if this isn't the right forum for such a post. Thanks, Link
hmmm.. imo, building websites for others should only be your temporary solution if you're looking for urgent cash on the spot since it doesnt earn you much. The very reason why companies are looking to get their websites developed is because in the long run it's well worth more than what it actually cost to build one. (Heavy site traffic => successful marketing => more sales & site advertisers etc) Just imagine this, if mark zuckerberg (facebook creator) built facebook not for himself but for external companies, he'll never have become the billionaire today.
