Looking for ways to attract listings to my Property Directory

Hi there, I am quite new to the directory scene and I have been developing a paid real estate & properties niche directory for the past few months since March. I have bought manual directory submission services, sponsoring themes, created quality content for it, etc. but I want to know what else can I do to attract clients to submit to my directory. Anyone who has a property directory and want to share their experiences in managing it, please feel free to share your knowledge.

You're severely limiting your chances of receiving advice without providing a url to your directory. There's several suggestions I'd like to make but won't until I've seen your directory and checked out its background. PM me your directory's URL if you don't want it out in the open sea.

    Cheers

If you are looking for general promotion ideas for directories there are numerous threads that you can find with that general information by using the search function.

If you are looking for ideas specific to your directory most here would want to see your directory. It helps to see where you are now before trying to help you get where you want to go.

Oh, sorry about that. It didnt cross my mind that providing the directory url would be important, as I don't feel the directory is ready to be announced to public yet. Regardless, you can see the directory here, which I have shortened the url using a free service:

    http://www.propertydirectory.in/

I hope to see suggestions which are specific to my directory and directory niche.

    1. minimize that huuuuuuuuuuge header.

its roughly 440pixels in height. the average browser size is 1024x768 and in being so, you just took almost 3/4 of the screen with nothing more than a graphic and adsense ad. (remeber, most people have 1 or 2 toolbars installed too, which makes it even worse)

    2. move the adsense from the top to the side somewhere to help #1
    3. change the login / register to a more visible place on the left or right side to also help #1 ( i actually didnt even see it at first glance)
    4. put the categories ABOVE the 'resources and partners'
    5. actually, REMOVE the resources and partners sections.

    An0n made good points.

Also get your directory listed in directory lists > real estate niche category.
Announce it on real estate forums and participate on them with your directory link in your sig.
build links to rank high for keywords such as real estate directory.
work in some real estate related tools or features that visitors may find useful
Continue to regularly add article content

I think it's too busy. First thing I'd do is add more content, according to your stats you have less than one link per category. Then I'd either make it free and redesign the ads or keep it paid and remove them.

All of the above and a lot more, in directories, there seems to be jst a general directory listed not real etstate related. I think it needs to be more demographic, ie clearly stae what areas it covers and then all options for those areas under that, for example if i live in whop whop state, i want find agents in whop whop.

one of the support links seemed to cover online shopping, not real estate, and opened in the same window not a new one, your walking people out the door never to return.

There is a lot of work to do for sure probably before you worry about pushing it to hard, but wish you well with your project.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I will keep them in mind. I also want to ask if anyone can suggest to me suitable mods for phpLD will be perfect for a directory in the property niche. Maybe like a news feeds related to specific categories, review system, ratings, etc.? If anyone is able to install such mods, I would be interested to hire that person for installation. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
