Looking for something to support up to 3 million page views per day!

    Has anyone got any suggestions for a good host that can cope with potentially 3 million hits per day? Each page will be under 100Kb all in I hope, and each page view will require a moderate PHP script. Smart caching of PHP output would also be a major plus. I have no other requirements barring PHP script support.

    What are you looking for? Load balanced servers that you manage, or just paying one fee and having everything taken care of?

    aGig: I want someone to do all the management, I just want to stuff my PHP script onto it and forget. Just like a bog standard $7 cPanel shared hosting setup, only with a bigger chunk of processing power and a fatter data pipe.

    Dougy: It's a bit too much of a gamble to go for more than $100 per month, I think; even though 3 million page views x 1% CTR on Google at 10 c per click is $3,000 per day, if I end up only getting three thousand per day I'm stuck with a rather expensive brick!

    thewird: That's a big server! If I get up to the 3 mill mark, I'd probably want to go somewhere round about there and find something else interesting to do with the extra horsepower! My problem is estimating the power required. Once I get my site benchmarked on a local LAMP setup I can start predicting required CPU power.

    So from what I got out of this you don't want to pay for a dedicated server yet. You said you don't want to spend more then $100 /month so I have this VPS plan that fits your budget... You can install LXadmin for free or CPanel for $10 /month. And when your ready you can move up. My dedicated servers all include CPanel so if you pick CPanel with a VPS, the account move would be easy with very little downtime. You can contact me if you have any more questions.

    VPS Plan 512
    * 512MB RAM
    * 50GB Hard Drive
    * 20 Mbps = 6000GB Bandwidth
    * $59 /month

    KenYN, based on your requirements, I can offer you a dedicated server to meet your requirements... You'd be looking at $1000/mo.

    Your requirements for bw suggest you are pushing around 300GB/day. One time setup would be $300, with a recurring of $1000/mo.

    Let me know when you are ready to order. Thank you.
