Looking for some friendly advice

    Hi,

I have been involved in online marketing for the past few years, and recently quit my very well paid full time online marketing job to pursue my own affiliate efforts.

My background is mainly SEO and usability and I have recently delved into the PPC world.

My first adventure into PPC was a disaster a couple of years ago, I didnt really know what I was doing.

Since then I have done a lot of reading and setup a PPC campaign around CPA offers. Simple really, landing page with 2 cpa offers, opt in box (10 follow up emails with cpa offers etc) and cpa offer on thank you page and in an unblockable popup. Which broke even.

RIGHT NOW, I have just built a campaign around a clickbank product, setup integrated reporting, done all of my tighlty targetted ad groups with 4 ads for each group. I havent launched it yet, but am seeing quality scores of 7/10 which im pleased with.

My landing page is fully setup with multivariate testing also (usability is another area i excelled in professionally)

Now I have set my PPC to £0.15, deposited £20 credit and set it to display my ads on the search network only as quickly as possible to get some initial data.

This is where I start to struggle with the bid management and the inital launch and was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to be on hand to give me some pointers if I get stuck?

Im certainly not a newbie to the online marketing game, so I wont be asking ridiculous questions :)

    Thanks

I would personally ask some experienced PPC'ers directly via private messaging. many will have enough time to spare.

I was in a similar position to you until recently, i joined PPC-Coach after reading about it here, i have to say that Will is really a fantastic teacher, and he is never too busy to help, even though he has 1 other permanent PPC advisor and lots of moderators, not to mention the hundreds of students who are all pretty good (and constantly improving) ... anyway im going off on a tangent, i checked out Will and his PPC-Coach.com website - i joined up and havent regretted it for a moment since.

If you want consistant and constructive advice without having to hope somebody who replies actually knows what theyre talking about and arn't there to steal your campaign ideas then check out Will and his coaching system.

    Hi,

I would be happy to help out. I have over 8 years of PPC management experience, and have managed many large roi positive accounts.

If you know your avg. conversion rates and avg. order size(or the value you attach to a signup, etc..), you can back that into an effective cpa, then do the math to get the cpc you can afford to pay.

Ex: You know that one visitor in every 50 visits converts(2%), and your avg. order is $50, to hit break even you would need a cpc of $1.00.

I thought PPC Coach was not accepting any new subscribers. Or am I thinking of PPC Classroom?

MJ, check out links to my site below.

What kind of full time online marketing job you quit? Is it related to PPC or affiliate?

PPC Coach looks to be a winner, im going to see how this campaign goes before jumping into that with both feet though.

I have 9 ad groups, with 4 adverts for each one. I launched the campaign on monday, and 90% of my ads say-

    Under review
When your ad is "Under review", it's not running anywhere. Additional investigation is required before we're able to approve or disapprove this ad.

Which means out of my 9 ad groups, only 2 are serving ads and as such drilling my budget only on those 2 ad groups.

Does it normally take 5 days to review ads???

I can vouch for PPC Coach, it's a good program, I've been a member there for a while. The forums are chock full of great info.

Nine days is too long. They just forgot about you. A friendly email to remind them should fix within 24 hours. I am patient but if they still are pending review after 7 days, I shoot them an email. If I'm less patient, usually the client getting on my back about it, I'll wait 5 full days. Happens to me about once a month and I write hundreds of ads. Some words in your ad will trigger a manual review, I think "download" is one, "money" types of keywords, including "gold" (even as in "gold watch") may be others.

My experiences show it takes normally under 3 days to get reviewed! Something must be wrong if its more than 9 days now, definitely!

What are CPA's for your two running Ads?

9 days 'ad pending' status is definitely not normal. You may want to contact the adwords website support to remind them that ads need to be approved manually after a review.
