Just for the record; Having a few margaritas and taking advice from your IRC buddies on buying domains = not good business practice (for the most part). I'm not sure if it was the margaritas, but that's the story I'm sticking with. I've had allyourdomainarebelongto.us in my portfolio for a year now and have never done anything with it. Hosting, expired domains, random re-director... I've had a few ideas, but I'm not smitten with any of them. Considering the collective creative ability of this bunch, I figured I'd see what you could come up with. Any ideas, or just let it die next year?
I've not done it before, it's just everywhere, hard to miss. Here's a FAQ: http://www.devshed.com/reseller-web-hosting/f/11/reseller-web-hosting And here are a few sites that will allow you to do reseller hosting: http://www.site5.com/resellers/ http://www.hostnexus.com/resellers/index.htm http://www.qualityhostonline.com/ http://www.100megswebhosting.com/resellers.php I've used 100 megs. They're OK, but I'm moving some of my sites away from them, because their servers end up on spam-blocking lists too often. I've used site 5 too. I actually have a low-end site reselling account with them, but I only used it to set up my own 20 sites under 1 account. I'm happy with Site 5 so far (been there for about 6 months), although I can't tell you what it's like to do "real" reselling with them. -Tony
Since the whole "all your base are belong to us" meme is best known with the gamer crowd, how about a site for game-themed domain whois lookup script? Not much trouble to set up.The difficulty is getting folks to find it, particularly with the .us.
I'd use it as an English grammar site... Don't say silly things like "all your domain are belong to", learn grammatically correct English! If syntax is your trouble spot, let us help you! Eh, just a thought.
