    Hi all,
My husband and I are running a personal fundraiser. I have also created a blog and facebook page associated with this so I can help others understand what we are going through and hopefully help someone in the future.
I am looking for some advice on how to get the word out there. I want to gain real followers to my blog, facebook page etc that would read what I am posting and share the fundraise page with their friends etc.
I am not looking for any programs that I pay for and then they send me fake likes and followers so to speak.
Thanks for any advice you can give!

It depends on what the personal fundraiser is for.
If it's for something interesting (help me raise funds to swim around the world), or medical (help me raise funds for a bionic leg) you could try local paper and local radio. They're often desperate for stories.

Your local newspapers, radio and television stations are a great place to start. Make sure that any item them do on your cause that they highlight your social media and web presence. Have you set up a 'Just Giving' page too, as that can also be promoted through social media, in email signatures etc as it is equipped with a button so people can donate to your cause straight away.
    Good luck with your fundraising!

    Claire :)

Craigslist.com and backpage.com come to mind. These can actually bring people to your page that will more likely donate something.

Social media sites can bring you a ton of traffic, but those people are less likely to help out.

Start with your friends and appeal to them to help you spread the page or word.
