Have you tried s2member plugin? It's free which settles the rights issue :)
Now leaving the FREE factor aside, this plugin is easy to configure (just need some familiarity and time)
It allows 4 levels of membership (bronze through platinum and you can change the level)
It's integrated with paypal which paypal tracks the lifespan of the membership. It will expire the member when subscription is up.
It allows you to create paypal button according to your levels of membership.
My site uses s2member and i created a step-by-step guide to configure the s2member plugin in my website, Wordpress Handyman.
If you need help you can pop by the URL or just take a look at my site and see if it satisfy your need
Hope you find it useful :)

I used http://member.wishlistproducts.com/ for a site (which I recently sold).

It wasn't exactly what I was looking for and the payment side of things were a little buggy in my opinion, though it had some good features.

I tried Wishlist Member, but found it cumbersome. I've since switched to Digital Access Pass (DAP), which makes dripping content much easier. I also like their support documents better.

I've used Memberwing - does the job well.

And, in case anyone needs a WP based membership site within the internet marketing/rights industry, I offer a service to set-up which you can see below.

If you're looking for an alternative to MemberWing/DAP/Wishlist that works well then check out Your Members at www.newmedias.co.uk. It's one of the oldest Wordpress Membership Plugins (but is still actively developed) and whilst not free, it's pretty competitively priced.

Disclaimer. I now work for NewMedias, but don't let that put you off, I've been using Your Members on my own sites for some time now.
