Looking for software that will change words in an essay.

    I am looking for software that will allow me to change all instances of a word to another word in a text document.

    For instance, I need something that will change every "2007" in a document to "2008."

    I'd do it by hand, but I have about 90 pages to read through. I'd prefer something that is freeware or open source.

    Almost any word processor can do this, even Notepad. Just go to Edit > Replace.

    Yep, word, notepad, wordpad, etc everything mate. Usually ctrl-r, or ctrl-h.

    I think he's looking for an automated thing, like have a word list
    e.g.
    big=huge
    little=small
    and run the software and replace every occurrence of the word in the left. Helpful if you have to edit a lot of articles.

    Yes, that is exactly what I need. I got started with Ctrl-H, and it was helpful, but it gets VERY monotonous.

    Ummm, maybe the button you need is replace all? lol
    There is a system involved with replcing words, like you can use variables. ^# means any number etc. When in the replace screen in word, clikc on more and you'll see options like any character,letter,number etc

    In Microsoft Office there is a thing called find and replace. You do not need any other expensive software to do such an easy task. If you can't figure it out by yourself google it, see how it is done :)

    Its better to read through it yourself as it may replace the word wrongly.
