i think what you need to do Balazs is a little research
put a budget together and then approach a few SEO agencies
if you're only looking to spend a few quid, then you'll get a low end service, if you have a proper budget then it opens up a whole host of good quality agencies
a client of mine was quoted £80 per month, i quoted them £750 per month
they went with me, why? because you have to ask yourself what effort would you put into a project for £80 per month? if you're on a UK wage id say not much

I agree with acquifoloi, it's a question of your competition and budget. (You get what you pay for) But that does not always mean cheap is bad. It will just be done less or on a slower pace. Twelve years of experience (yes 12 - started with meta stuffing before Google was born) showed me that it all comes down to the strengh of yor competition. You can start on a small budget but when the results are poor it usually is not the failure of your SEO but of your unsufficient budget to beat the competition.
