$200 onwards should get you a reliable dedicated server for your proxy sites.

Boxes usually start at around $75 unmanaged (LayeredTech) for the basic model.

Just on some of your earlier comments, I understand and respect it's a big leap of faith spending decent money buying a box, but simply if your proxy or proxies aren't showing you the return to cover the cost (maybe not now, but future revenue...ie the delay in getting the money from adsense), particularly at a high level of traffic/ bandwidth, then they aren't worth keeping. And as RRWH noted above, some proxies go crazy, I've got one that is less than 2 weeks old averaging 13gb per day. Think of it another way as well, if you do want to grow your proxy/ proxies, you need to be able to cater for that growth, and a good proxy that is always up gets good word of mouth and repeat visitors. Crap proxies on shared/ VPS plans that are frequently down don't. More/ regular visitors=more revenue for you :)

Thanks for the advice nnet. I'm currently getting cash together to order a dedicated box, and I'm getting all the proxy designs + coding all done at the moment.

I'll probably need a managed box as I have never ordered a dedicated before and so will need assistance.

I've heard too many great things about the revenue proxies bring (I experimented with one before and the traffic was mad) so I really want to give this a go the right way.

I acknowledge that on my first month I probably won't cover costs because of late adsense payments etc etc, but I'm willing to take that dive.

Thanks for all the advice :)

I recommend www.managemybox.com they look after all the stuff for n00bs like me.

I had one at layeredtech but I couldn't set it up and their support wouldn't help me (yes tools I have already read the cpanel help file!)

I made back my money within 5 days (hosting for the month + domains + design) :)

Yes, it is a bit of a "leap of faith" to jump in and get a dedicated box and run some proxies. The truth is, some people will do it and succede and some will fail.

If you read a lot of posts from this site, have everything in place and launch 3 or 4 proxy sites at the same time you should be a success. Being realistic, you should have enough funds to pay for 3 moths of hosting up front, and by that time your revenue streams will be putting money in the bank for you to keep it all going.

A good strategy will have you setting up a new proxy on your server every week or so, and growing your proxy business.
