I have been doing online business for about 12 years but am growing weary of all the hassles. Sites once having a PR7 then PR5 went to 0 overnight with this last PR update. I have spect literally thousands and thousands of dollars on unique content for sites from good quality freelancers from eLance and a few from DP. I refuse to sell these based on current SERPS and PR. The value of the content alone is the main basis in my opinion for their value. I have just too many sites to handle and no longer want to work at building backlinks and so on. Who the %$#@ knows what Google will do next month to discount even backlinks. I am sick of having my income connected to Google. I made a lot of money with Google early on but it's becoming a business only for those with deep pockets. Anyway - where would you start? Some of these sites at one time were earning 70-80 dollars a day EACH in Adsense alone. Of late adsense is almost dead. I have many education sites, DIY, financial etc sites.
Hello Glen, By having 12 years old experience on the internet means you are already established and you know how things work. You have sites in high paying niches that's why I would strongly recommend you to use different affiliate networks for particular sites. Did you know that there are educational offers out there which give you up to $20 per every single referral you send to them? Just by sending 10 leads per day you can make a hefty $200 from just one site. I assume most of your traffic is from USA so you have another advantage on your side. Many other webmasters are spending a lot of cash to drive targeted traffic to their landing pages but you already have that kind of traffic, all you need is a good monetization. If you need help just send me a PM and we can work something out Cheers Olgi
Thanks Olgi Actually its the traffic I am lacking. Oh yes, I have worked with some of the largest edu lead brokers out there. I guess really what I am saying is I think I am spread too thin. I have too many offline responsibilities to manage these sites. Admittedly, it used to be MUCH easier to make a decent buck in the affiliate lead business. It has become more difficult each day. I also used to do excellent business in the PPC business and that too is extremely difficult anymore. I would take on a partner if I knew someone I could trust that had experience in real SEO and knowledge of how the affiliate business works. I guess my initial thought is see what value could be placed on the sites I own as is. There are a few I will not part with and I will continue to work on them.
An idea: Could you outsource the maintenance of these sites to a college kid? 20 bucks an hour, 2 hours a day. There are lots of smart kids, teach them the ropes, and they'll make money, and you get a working site up and running. Might require some initial investment in terms of money before adsense or affiliates catch up. Unfortunately, people here (and elsewhere) are buying businesses. The value is based on forward projections of profit, and since you've said that there is little profit, it won't be what you've put in. Another random idea: can you package up the writing content, and sell that, perhaps several times, or over spread over several packs?
How would I sell the content so that the buyers are comfortable with it? Would I first have to explain where the content was and guarantee the website has been deleted?
