I'm setting up a blog that will list upcoming music gigs. What I'm looking for is a plugin that I can insert the gigs into and people can search for a gig depending on what kind of music they like and where they live. Myspace offer a function like this on their web site. Is there a plugin around that could do this?
No, I am afraid that that is a function that you need to program yourself, and create your own database of information. Some affiliate programs have a search function widget to sell location based tickets (like Ticketmaster). You will first have to track down the actual database itself...who offers this kind of information, and then you can configure a search based in the information they provide, using them as the search source. Funny, I just got an email today about a beta project that does just that using google maps for mobile phones and websites. Don't have the particulars yet, but I will probably post some press on it in the next couple of days on my blog.
